National Institute for Standards & Technology (NIST) Upgrades Power Plant with MicroMod

About This Project

Faced with product obsolescence and increasing difficulty in obtaining parts and support, the N.I.S.T. decided to upgrade the power plant controls at their Gaithersburg, MD facility. Six boilers, six chillers, four compressors as well as air dryers, cooling towers and pump systems will all be controlled by MicroMod’s MOD 30ML and MODCELL. Green Contracting of Baltimore, Maryland will provide mechanical equipment and installation. The project also includes five PC workstations with MicroMod’s Micro-PWC SCADA software.

Joseph Dioguardi, MicroMod’s boiler project sales manager, and George Marin of FCx (a MicroMod authorized distributor) were responsible for the sale. The bid specification called for a MicroMod control system, and successful projects in the past convinced Green Contracting to partner with MicroMod on the proposal.
